1. Competition Structure

The Aquaculture Student Competition 2025 is a pan-European contest open exclusively to undergraduate students. The competition focuses on three key areas of aquaculture:

1. Open-water Finfish Farming – sustainability, technology, and environmental aspects of offshore cage farming.

2. Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) – innovative approaches to land-based aquaculture.

3. Valorisation of By-products – processing, waste reduction, and creating added value from aquaculture products.

• Teams: Participation is only in teams of 3 undergraduate students.

• Submission: Each team must prepare a written report (maximum 10 pages) in English.

• Evaluation: Reports will be reviewed by an expert jury.

• Selection: The best team from each subject will be invited to the International Final in Rhodes, Greece.

2. International Final in Rhodes

The International Final will take place at LaMar Fish Farm in Rhodes, Greece. Finalist students will present their reports and participate in a full-day program experiencing all farm activities.

• Location: LaMar Fish Farm, Rhodes, Greece

• Participants: 3 winning teams (9 students in total)

• Program: Presentation of reports and hands-on experience of fish farm operations.

• Support: Each finalist student will receive a €1,200 allowance to cover travel, accommodation, and participation expenses.

3. Evaluation Criteria

Reports will be judged on the following criteria:

• Innovation & Creativity (30%)

• Scientific Accuracy & Feasibility (30%)

• Societal & Environmental Impact (20%)

• Clarity & Quality of Report (20%)

4.Deadlines 

Competition deadlines and events 

• Deadline for submission of european competition is 20 th of October 

• Announcement of results is 25 October 

• Visit in Rhodes 3 days between 18–21 November
